Today I'm going to talk to you about the feet. Yes, that part of our body that is down there, which many people do not pay much attention to and that only comes to our mind in the very hot season, when we take off our sandals and start walking our feet around the pools and beaches. Maybe after what I'm going to tell you, you will pay a little more attention to them. Did you know that there is a relationship between children's bite problems and their footprint? Apparently, according to a recent study, children's foot posture is associated with their dental abnormalities.
There is scientific evidence that children's footfall is related to their bite. Until this study there were only relationships with lumbar curvature, but researchers from the University of Malaga have revealed that 50% of children who present jaw protrusion (movement of the lower jaw forward) also have a pronated tread (foot rotates inward).
The problems that derive from the jaw not fitting well are, on the one hand, an overload in the area, and the development of bruxism, headaches, otitis and other conditions in the ear, problems with digestion, constipation, cavities, tooth wear ...
One of the reasons that can explain this situation is the posture of the foot, which is directly related to the risk of suffering from malocclusion problems (our teeth do not fit well), as they verified after conducting a study where they analyzed 200 schoolchildren aged 6 to 9 years.
Would you like to know more about them? Find out what types of feet you have? How does all this affect your posture? In the rest of your body? Even in your pelvis and even in your mouth? The feet make up 52 of the 206 bones that make up the human body, so they are not something to disregard. Depending on the arch of your feet there are several types: cavus foot, normal foot and flat foot.
I invite you to take the following test that will take you only a few minutes to discover what type of foot your child has (you can do it too). You just have to do a very simple and even fun thing: paint the soles of your feet with finger paint or simply wet them with water and step barefoot on paper. Look at the drawing you have left. Does it correspond to any of the following types of feet that I am going to detail?
- cavus foot
Only the heel and forefoot are reflected in the brand. This type of tread involves a lot of lumbar and cervical curvature and a pointed palate. It is an unusual footprint, with a high plantar arch and corresponds to supination. Supination consists of the tendency of the feet to lean on the outside of them, which you can easily observe by seeing where the shoe wears. If it is the outer and front area of the shoe, it is supinator.
If you are supinator and with hollow feet, your knees will normally be bowed out, which is also called knee varus and it is convenient to balance all these areas of the body to prevent future injuries, especially if you do a lot of sports or want to be an athlete .
- Flat foot
In the mark you can see all or most of the marked plant. This type of tread corresponds to a severe pronation, that is, the arch falls inwards. The pronation consists of the collapse of the foot towards the inside, having the ankles a slight tendency towards inside. Flat feet are associated with less lumbar and cervical curvature and a more sunken palate.
- Normal foot
It is the most common type of feet (normal or neutral pronator), observe the footprint left by around the middle of the sole. The tread is straight and does not tend to go inwards or outwards.
I recommend you start taking care of your feet. What if from your feet you can start to improve your whole body? I advise you, especially for children, to pay attention to them and you will avoid many problems in their future.
